ABOUT ME:
Born in England to a brit father and American mom, I moved to the states as a small child (but am still the proud owner of both British and American passports). I have lived, worked and/or studied in NYC, Barcelona, Wales, Chicago, Maine, London, and now Louisville. Of all these places, I have never been happier than where I am now.

I earned a degree in English Lit in 2000 at U of IL and, before moving from Chicago to Louisville in 2005, I worked as a writer and editor at an international publishing house. I do write freelance for some photography magazines but my passion and main practice now is photography.

My freelance work has included editorial for The Daily Telegraph (London), Challenges Magazine (Paris) and The Courier-Journal, and work for Makers Mark, Jim Beam, Luna Boutique, Avalon restaurant and glass artist Jonathan Swanz.

My current personal projects include a long-term exploration of motherless women's stories through interviews, video and photos; a film about the state of the abortion debate; and a collection of photographs from St. Catherine Street in Louisville.

When not shooting I enjoy singing in a band and seeing live music, trying out new recipes, walking around my neighborhood, writing letters and whiling away the hours in front of my beloved computer.

So Freakin Inspiring.

I happened to be checking out the Livebooks site as an option for my website, and I came across these awesome little videos they post on successful photographers/artists. This one, along with Michael Jang's video, really spoke to me. Check it out and let me know what you think! http://www.livebooks.com/community/interviews/scott/index.php -Rachel

actually, I think it was my kiddos you were taking pictures of! I was just wondering if you'd gotten any good ones. ;-)

London! what a place. i really would like to go back there. i lived up near Archway for a while, several years ago and then I was in Oxford for a spell.

Chile was interesting, to say the least. I had some experiences i never would have thought were possible. i got to work there, taking photos and writing, which was wonderful. i just moved to Louisville in march.

thanks for your kind words - i still have a lot to learn, ultimately, but I am in a fortunate situation.

the photo of with the painting is actually this weird German cumbia musician called Senor Coconut who I interviewed for some bizarre reason. he posed without me asking. how kind..

Rachel - I was the kid sitting up next to the stage. I was hoping that more people would come and sit around the stage...but nobody ever did. We put a little write-up about the show on BackseatSandbar.com...and yes, it was a great show. The coolest thing was that they came and hung out afterwards at Nachbar...

The lighting was pretty difficult (I need to start post-processing photos with lighting like that)

I suck. I was busy doing daddy stuff.

Where are you during the day anyway? St. Mathews or B-twn road Murphy's? I am often in both places.
