prints etc...

i'm wanting to start trying to sell prints and i'm curious as to what i should do.

if you go to my site (no this is not a post to get more traffic) you can see the logo i have for rail 16 photography at the top of the page.

what i'm trying to decide is if i should include that logo on the prints, or do a more 'conservitive' logo that's more plain text that anything.

I tried to look at your site, the link on your profile, and got nothing.

Also, I would think you would not have any logo at all on a print for sale. I have been selling prints for a while now, I don't think I would have sold many if my logo was on them.

I would not put a logo on a print that someone bought. You could get away with a signature, like on a painting. But I wouldn't do either. Proof prints are a separate issue.

Also, your site has it all: bears, ducks, trees, angry men with axes, and womens' butts. If you put them all together, I could see some $ales in the angry bear butt axe market.

Really, your Things category has some very nice shots of critters. I think you could sell some prints from the Places and Things. However, the kind of people who might purchase such a print may never see them, having been turned off by the People section with its angry photos and occasionally bleeding-woman-with-stars-painted-on-nipples-while-suspended-by-guy-in-background shots. But... depending on your market, those might be the photos that sell.

lol love the description!

i do agree my posted iamges don't really identify a common them of photography but more a braod selection of images.

i love shooting people but having time and people to pose isn't always there, so the landscapes and nature are great for shooting because they never complain :)

I like the layout of your website - people, places things, but when I hit the back button to go to the main menu, I leave the site completely. I don't like flash sites that are difficult to navigate.

There is a little box button that returns to the main page. You have to think about it to find it and get back to the original page. Mild pain, but too much for the average internet user, I'm afraid. I never hit the back button on my browser though. There is no going back. I find the mother foofer flash back button or hit Google and check out high ranking ads so I know what to buy later.
