I was going to post a mini tutorial but since this blog is in Cuba, it isn't legal to exchange intellectual property. Instead, I present an okay shot from a wedding last year. Complete except for the details of what was done. At this size it is difficult to see the wall texture in the final, but its an inverted cracked concrete so it is sexy. I shall summarize, liquify, desaturated, textured, darkened, brightened. Whew. Where is my "that was easy" button?

Because blogging in Cuba is more fun! That's what you were thinking.

I was working on the album for this bride today and she didn't pick this image. I thought the pose was a little uncomfortable looking and her arm was at an awkward angle and a bit distorted. As usual, I wasted 30 minutes fiddling around with a picture that no one wants because I wanted to 'try something'. I wish maybe I had left the arm of couch lit and maybe lit the top of the arm and let the sides drop into shadow. In this version, I buried the arm in shadow and I never like what that does to skin. But, it is a lot of work for something going in the trashcan, more than likely.

It is also cool to know when I am shooting that I can take a regular shot on a couch and turn into something more moody and dramatic later. I got my start in photography working from the backend to shooting, so I think that helps during a shoot because when I "Yono" my LCD I know I can pat myself on the back if I see something I can tweak out later. :P
