Small studio in the country..most of my shoots take place on location in the city or in the wide open spaces where i live. I shoot lots of engaged couples..maternity and families...but my greatest passion is photographing children.
That's great! I love people too and I love shooting people - but more in a "pretend I'm not here" way. I may ask you some tips on photographing people. I want to get better at that.
Here are some tips on photographing food....I met with a food photographer in Denver, CO - he shoots mainly with one light. I've heard many food photographers position the light in the back of the scene aimed forward. Also use MIRRORS to reflect light into dark areas - but also keep some shadows to add definition. And above all.......just practice shooting it and play around (I know, I know........when do you find the time to do that? - Some people pull all nighters doing experiments).
I hope that helps.
I am still new to Louisville, so 45 minutes south....is that in the Elizabethtown area? I'm looking at your photo-slide show as I write this.....really stunning images. The settings are fantastic! One can tell that you really connect with your clients. I am getting into food photography as well. It's a lot harder than it looks. The experience I have thus far is for a few local magazines. I'm still learning about that niche. There is another chef here in town who has mentioned a cookbook as well. I still need to put a quote together for him...
That's wonderful. Good for you! Yes, I lived and was one of three chefs working on an organic farm in northern CA. I'm not a professionally trained chef. I was hired as a cook and ended up doing a lot of recipe developing while I was in CA. Food, travel and photography are definitely my life as well! Does your boyfriend work in a restaurant here in town?
