ABOUT ME:
After overlapping careers as a professional musician, a scene painter, and a theatre director, VAS first photographed with intent in the summer of 1995.
He was awarded the Al Smith Fellowship by the Kentucky Arts Council in 1997, also the year of his first solo gallery exhibition. In 1998, Victor visited Deauville, France as an artiist-in-residence, again under the auspices of the KAC.
In 2003, he was invited to create images honoring the Louisville Ballet's 50th Anniversary. Victor's been exhibiting at galleries, cafes, and juried art shows since 1997. From the beginning, he has done all his own printing, wet and dry. Most recently, his work appeared in group shows at the 930 and Wayside Galleries in Louisville (2007).
The Louisville Graphic Designers Association recognized Victor with Gold and Silver Awards for Photography in 2005 and 2006, and he won a Gold Louie in 2008 for his work on the Louisville Ballet Season Brochure. He works as an advertising photographer and retoucher at Warren Lynch & Associates in Louisville, KY.
Wow, I loved so many of your images I couldn't just pick a couple to comment on. Really beautiful work. I think I like the holga stuff best, but some of the color work with just simple lines (like the escalators and the beach/house shot) are wonderful too. Sounds like you have some fun equipment to play with.
