Album companies are a dime a dozen and clients are impressed by 95% of them. The trick is what software are you going to use to design your album? Photoshop is not album design software. Rosemary's oldest boy, Johnathon, will vouch for this,…

Hi Rosemary, I don't have a price range in mind for the albums, but what I do want is for them to be top quality, contemporary and lasting albums. Probably flush-mount, both as part of wedding packages and a la carte and I would probably…

That't what I did. I know we're not "supposed to", but I'm with you on that.

Sometimes I think we get WAYYYYYYYYYYY to caught up in the whole LICENSING RIGHTS thing! If it is an easy gig to shoot, and I can run and gun and wash my hands of the project, sometimes I will just charge my $200 per hour and move on!

What about licensing rights? Do they want all of the copyright to your images? That can get pricey.

ABOUT ME:
Born in England to a brit father and American mom, I moved to the states as a small child (but am still the proud owner of both British and American passports). I have lived, worked and/or studied in NYC, Barcelona, Wales, Chicago, Maine, London, and now Louisville. Of all these places, I have never been happier than where I am now.

I earned a degree in English Lit in 2000 at U of IL and, before moving from Chicago to Louisville in 2005, I worked as a writer and editor at an international publishing house. I do write freelance for some photography magazines but my passion and main practice now is photography.

My freelance work has included editorial for The Daily Telegraph (London), Challenges Magazine (Paris) and The Courier-Journal, and work for Makers Mark, Jim Beam, Luna Boutique, Avalon restaurant and glass artist Jonathan Swanz.

My current personal projects include a long-term exploration of motherless women's stories through interviews, video and photos; a film about the state of the abortion debate; and a collection of photographs from St. Catherine Street in Louisville.

When not shooting I enjoy singing in a band and seeing live music, trying out new recipes, walking around my neighborhood, writing letters and whiling away the hours in front of my beloved computer.

I happened to be checking out the Livebooks site as an option for my website, and I came across these awesome little videos they post on successful photographers/artists. This one, along with Michael Jang's video, really spoke to me. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hi Rachel! It looks like we're paired up for Round 3 of the Portrait Project. I've been out of the country and just got in late last night and the photos are due Sunday! Are you free anytime on Sunday for us to take some shots? Unfortunately I won't be around Saturday. If not, maybe we can meet up sometime Monday evening and Ryan will give us a day extension for turning the photos in?

Hey Rachel, Things have been pretty alright. Work is rather busy, but I had to stop in the camera store on my circuitous jaunt around town, just to marvel at all the shiny things. i ended up buying a pretty great photography book at a used book store down the street, so it was a successful trip.

things good on your end? you are organizing this meeting for the "collective," i see. looks fun.
