I really enjoy taking pictures and fine tuning my eye while learning more about my camera and it's capabilities. Sometimes I look for the poetry in an image(because I write poetry) and it helps the viewer put the image into context. Other times I pictures of events, things and situations I rarely get to see.

From one Hobbyist to another... Welcome to LPC...I read your profile and I am going to share some advice I gave another here....

Digital Darkroom:

If you haven't already you might want to look at Picasa. Picasa has nice free editing software, you can buy a upgrade and it does a very good job. (for the price.)

There is also GIMP- it is a free Photo editing software. I just recently downloaded it, and I have not had the time to try it out.. I believe there was a discussion about GIMP on here- some seem to like it. It is compared to Photoshop.

AND one more thing... IF YOU HAVE A MAC (I see you use iPhoto)....  "Sofortbild" is free software that can tether (or link up) your Nikon to your Mac via a USB Cable. The Software allows you to take a picture through your Mac and see the photo appear on your Mac. This is great for doing portraits. Another neat feature is a timer.. You can set the MAC to tell your Nikon to take a picture every 4 seconds, 4 minutes, 4 hours.. it is up to you. Example would be for taking pictures of snow falling.. you can show every few minutes the snow getting deeper.. You can also do Bracketing with it and several other features.. and again it is FREE. Cant beat the price. But again, it is for Mac - you might be able to find a PC version, you would have to Google it and see.

Good Luck.
