The LVAF is all about Photography - needs your urgent help!

Tim Furnish, Rachel Seed, and Mary Yates (of this very community) along side Ansel Adams, Eugene Meatyard, and Minor White - lectures that mention Flickr in the…See More

Based on a previous essay and reintroduced based on this Art for Art's Art foum post.

American culture is formalist. American culture is hidden, is about hiding, is about lies and obscuring the truth. Commercial art is the highest expression of formal art. Content is principle but if that form is not the right form it will actually hide your… Continue

Generative Art as Figure Photography: Bil Brown's Underground Aesthetic - Article by Jamie McDermond

Posted on March 17, 2008 at 9:30pm 1 Comment

This academic paper was written by one of my favorite models and is being reworked for further publication. I found it charming, and also, she got a lot of the things that I could not put into words. Sometimes critics aren't all that critical. Thank you Jamie! - bb

I chose to write about Bil Brown for several reasons. Most obviously, I enjoy the aesthetics of his work; I appreciate the way his subjects interact and contrast with their environments.… Continue

Why, you're good at everything, aren't you? :)

I am enjoying in particular your work with the model who has the skinny red eyebrows. She looks both bemused and terrified.

Yeah, my plan was always to do undergrad at WKU and graduate study at an art school. Career day is coming up at Manual. Kansas city offered my friend a $18,000 scholarship on the spot. It's all about the scholarships, really. So we'll see how that goes.

I was really into The Academy of Art University in sanfran for a while... And of course Chicago.

I've pretty much already got a full ride to WKU though. That makes it easy. And I'm really into photojournalism. But I like fine art photography, too. I just don't know which would take me anywhere.

But thanks. =]
