Great shot Lizzie! I love the way you chose to paint this with light and the colors are fantastic!

Heres a clearer example of the before and after these two pictures were taken one after the other, one without light painting and one with light painting..

these shots were taken after 10pm in late October

Well, I'm inspired to experiement. Thanks for the explanation. I live on 2 acres of woodlands with a stream running through them and I have been trying to think of some unique way to shoot them. This has got me thinking.

Sometimes if they don't stand still for long periods of time though like the first shot they turn out like ghosts, or a bit blurred, but we were only experimenting it was seriously freezing that night.

yeah with either using a flashlight, vehicle headlights, brake lights, or just firing off shots from a speedflash.

How are you making multiple images of the same person. Turning the light off, letting the person move, then turning it back on?

yeah its amazing what you can do with a flashlight

you can do people too

As long as you aren't submitting that person to 5 degree weather and wont stay still long enough

Lizzie, or someone help me understand "painting with light." When you say you spent 2 minutes painting the whole scene, does that mean you took a long exposure while shining a flashlight around the whole scene?
