This photo, taken with a point & shoot, is of my daughter for her baptism - my mother made this dress out of her wedding gown... i love this photo but not the composition and lighting are BLAH!

I am REALLY bad at editing photos like this. Here is what I came up with. It's pretty bad, but now you can see the babies face. Not very many points for style with my edit...

I just made adjustments in LR. Used the adjustment brush to change the exposure on the face and arms. I then adjusted the Luminance of the dress. Lastly, did a little Split Toning.

ok so i used picnik (Free version) on this one since im at work and dont have access to my photoshop. :o) i lightend exposure and highlights a little, desaturated, sharpend, then went back and lightly smoothed the face, used the "cross process" to about 89% for vintage look and added just a touch of a dark brown vignette at like 70 something percent.

black & white process then added a touch of sepia process for warmth, lighten exposure

not terrible for free! lol

DONT FORGET: send me your photos so we can have something else to edit other than my photos!

So I'm not good at all with editing in general.  However I do like this little program I've used called Photoscape.  You can do basic editing nothing like Photoshop but it works pretty well.  I really like the vintage photo look you can work with.  That's basically all I did with this was give a vintage look and adjusted the sharpness a little.

I use Lightroom 2, I increased the exposure so the babies face could be seen more clearly. Took the "temp" a little cooler, upped the clarity, a smidge of fill light. Split toned with a light green and blue. Bumped up contrast and brightness. Decreased Saturation. Also played with tone curve..

Then I took the photo to cs2. Brightened the eyes. Brightened the whole photo, and then adjusted skin tone.

I know I did a little bit of everything, but in my opinion, I did this to focus more on the baby's face. It's a little warm but that could be adjusted if one didn't like the look!

no other photos have been sent for weekly editing... please send to alarmsphotography@gmail.com

thanks

I just did some color correction and white balance adjustments in Aperture. I didn't want to crop anything since my assumption was to keep as much of the dress as possible.
