We Need Your Help!
As many of you know, I am an affiliated photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization in which photographers donate their time to families who don't get to take their babies home from the hospital.

As both my children spent precious time in the NICU, one being very touch and go for a while, this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart.

Please don't misunderstand, this is a very, very hard thing to do. People often ask me, "How do you not just cry through the whole thing". Umm I do. I cry the whole drive to the hospital and silently cry throughout the session. However, I firmly believe that God lifts the burden from my heart upon leaving the session. Otherwise, there is absolutely no way I could continue doing this.

OK, here's where we need your help, there are only 5 photographers in the Kentuckiana area who have agreed to give their time and talents to this organization, with a combined population of over 1 million people, it's just not working. All 5 of us have families, jobs and other outside commitments. We need some more people. BAD!

Courtney Lambert posted some more info over on her blog, take a look!

If you're interested in doing this, please visit this link to the official site and for more information on how to get started!

NILMDTS is an organization I've thought about volunteering for many times, I'm just afraid I couldn't handle it. :(
I signed up!
Erin, I won't lie, it's hard to do, but for me it's worth it and I work through it. It's not for everyone. You're more than welcome to come on a shoot with one of the other photogs and see what you think before committing.

I think I may do that, see if I have what it takes before I jump head first into it. Thanks for the info.
I know I couldn't handle it. I can't even shoot a wedding without crying.
Thank you so much Sara....seriously! And anyone who wants to come for a shadowing session, please just let me know and I can help explain the ins and outs.
I signed up!!! Don't know if I will be able to keep it together to do it though.

I wouldn't be able to handle myself... I don't have children of my own yet but just seeing the video made me cry.... I couldn't imagine losing a child, thats just something i hope to never have to bare.....
It is an awesome program--I was the area coordinator before Courtney Lambert and we shot several sessions--they were SO emotionally draining, but so worth it to give those parents lasting memories of their little ones.

We had to resign from our volunteer positions because so many times we were unavailable to come on such short notice and I felt like we were not being a benefit to the program by only being available on certain times and days.

We miss the program and highly recommend it--thanks to Courtney for taking over and to you all for signing up--it is hard on heart, but so worthwhile!
I"m not sure either if I could handle it but would like to go on a shoot with one of the photogs. How do I do that?
Joni, just PM me your info
