I'm curious about how many here at LPC use Twitter. If you do use it, how frequently and what applications you use.

We've got a few, but Christina uses it enough to be counted a "a dozen" all by herself, so maybe 15 people total I would guess? :}
I'm on Twitter quite often. I use it online and with Twitterberry for my BlackBerry. User name is cmesker. I like that it updates on my facebook and my blog anytime I post to Twitter. :)
Yup!! I use Twitterfox mainly.
Twitter,
Isn't that for kids?

I'm on Twitter (user name is mylifeinfocus). I only use it from the web right now until I get my iPhone. I use it daily. I really didn't expect too much from it when I started a couple months ago, but so far I've won 2 concert tickets and have had quite a few fellow photographers from other parts of the country follow me, which in turn has increased traffic to my website.
I imbibe hellacious quantities of caffeinated beverages on an hourly basis. And as jittery and twitchy as that makes me, I don't feel the need to constantly update my bowel movements for poop fetish people to read about when it happened on Twitter. Some of my Facebook "friends" want to constantly update their status on there through Twitter and Twitpic (or whatever the pic upload thing is called), and it's actually quite annoying. I don't give a donkey show-hole what they are eating and I sure as hell don't want to see a picture of it.

I can see a business side of Twitter, where you professionally state for the record what you are doing throughout the day. I don't know who would REALLY care. Or who else has a job that has time to read it, for that matter. It seems like something that is too time consuming when you consider all the time you spend uploading and wondering if this taco is worth twittering about.

I heard an interview on the radio with the guys who started Twitter. They said they weren't making a profit and had not yet determined how they would make a profit. They said they were funded by 'venture capitalists' and, once they got their product how they wanted it, they would figure out how to make money. They used a couple of big words when they said it, so it was almost convincing. It seems like a site like that would be generally hard to sell a lot of online ads at the moment. The pure text market is probably not booming. So, it will be interesting to see what they do to churn out a profit. They've been going since 2006, I think, and sooner or later they will have to pay some bills with their own money.

I can see how some people could enjoy it. I don't.
I do agree with Shane that there is a lot of crap out there - not only on Twitter and Facebook, but other social media outlets also. I too get annoyed with the "I'm craving a burrito!" or "Now I'm going to buy beer at the liquor store" posts, but that's part of social media. Personally, if I don't find someone's posts useful or interesting to me, then I either choose not to follow that person at all, or I ignore them and read the useful ones.

While I do use Twitter, FB, LinkedIn and several others, I am somewhat sick of hearing about them all. But part of what makes this kind of thing interesting to me is people can use them (or not use them) to get whatever they want out of it. In the past couple months since I've started using Twitter and FB, I've generated some photography contacts that I didn't have before - one of which resulted in my getting paid a couple hundred bucks and my photo published in a magazine.
I'm beginning to use Twitter for an organization I volunteer with. It has, surprisingly, brought a flood of interest and several new volunteers. I'm going to ride that train for a little while and see where it goes.
It's cool if you get something out of Twitter. I just don't care for it.

Facebook is awesome for networking.

id like to know more about linking it to facebook, im more of a facebook user for sure.
