The first Louisville Visual Arts Festival celebrates The Center for Photographic Studies

I have been retained to be the publicist for the first/inaugural Louisville Visual Arts Festival via LVAA, now in it's 100th year.

The Louisville Visual Arts Festival will be kicking off June 5th-7th of 2009. This inaugural event celebrates photography and the Center for Photographic Studies. The Center was a creative photography school based in Louisville, KY in the 1970’s, established by C.J. Pressma. The Festival features 25 local galleries and museums exhibiting photography throughout the months of June and July. A majority of the exhibits will reflect work by former students of the Center for Photographic Studies, as well as memorabilia from the students themselves, works of renowned artists who visited the Center and other photographic works of independent artists.

The Center attracted students from 35 states and foreign countries between 1970-1978, some of whom still remain as working artists in the Louisville area. Along with darkrooms and classroom instruction, the Center also housed two galleries which exhibited works of local, regional and international photographers including Ansel Adams and Minor White.
Beginning June 5-7th come and visit the 25 participating galleries and museums and gain a sense of Louisville’s photographic history with the first Louisville Visual Arts Festival!
