I know this may sound a little strange to some of you but after some time of being in a funk, I'll try most anything now.
My life has been in a tumble in the past months, I lost my father of 81yrs back in November and that was a difficult thing being that I had already lost my mother years ago. Being over whelmed with greif and depression I have had some difficulty getting back into the game of being inspired to pick up my camera and do anything creative. As if that wasnt enough to throw me into a funk, my sister whom I am very close to was diagnoised with stage 4a cerival cancer and she just had her hysterectomy this week and my brother who has diabetes is having some medical problems with his heart and they are running a zillion tests on him. I am a mother of five children and I am so used to be active and shaking things off so easily. But I fee like i'm under a truck that is stoping me from doing what I love. My photography was not only an outlet but a great extra income for my family. Now I am blocked and I sincerely cannot focus on building back up where I was before. I realize it would take time, but I thought maybe you could all send a tad bit of your creative energys my way and help me regain my inspiration. Let me hear your stories of how you deal with personal distractions and how your inspire yourself to get back on track. This isnt something that I've ever seen discussed before, but I know that some of you have to deal with things that throw you off. So please, inspire me...

Rev. So sorry to hear about your last few months.
As you know, I beat stage 4 cancer a year ago. It can be done and I am sure your Sis will do the same.
You just gotta get out there and keep truckin'. I was on high dose chemo for about a year. I shot as much then as I do now. I remember getting chemo on a Thursday afternoon, getting out of the chemo chair and going to the Balloon Glow and snapped pics. Friday spent all day at The Oaks and all night at Derby Eve parties. Saturday Shot the Derby. Sunday, I about died and had no memories of what I had done over the past 3 days, other than my pics!
Things will get better for you, but you have to get the ball rolling!
Hang in there.
I sent you an LPC email...hope it helps =)

...and Ryan, you are truly an inspiration in yourself=)
I know you've been having a rough time lately and I'm sorry to hear it. If you want to get together sometime and just go out and shoot give me a hollar. I've been in a funk myself too :)

Things will get better, just keep your chin up.
im with erin.
i dont know many people in the area. i have 2 girls myself and definitely know what "funks" are like, in their varying degrees.

anytime you want to get together and shoot, or even if you just want someone to hang out with, im always up for it.

as for getting your creativity back, the best thing i know to do, is just shoot. dont put too much thought into it, dont try too hard, just do it. itll come back.
I don't know many people in the area either Jes! I'm 28 weeks pregnant right now, but if you all can deal with my waddling and probably too frequent complaining we should have a gettin' outta tha funk get together :)

Rev, you need to get in Round 3 of the Portrait project. Not only does it make you think of something to shoot possibly someone you have never met, but it is alot of fun to look at other shots and have others critique/commend your shot. It is such a fun time. I haven't had the chance to meet you yet, but get that camera and get in on the fun with us.
I agree with Rob. The portrait project was a lot of fun and may just be the inspiration you need to help with your funk. I'm sorry to hear of the rough times you've been going through. Maybe a group get-together is needed. I don't have experience doing portraits, but I really enjoyed the last portrait project. It may help get your mind off things.

I agree with Alice. :}

I think a group get-together would be a great idea. I would love to meet The Rev.

Heck, at the last two event's just as many folks were standing around talking and meeting one another as were taking part, and it's been nothing but great. I really think a meeting at Starbucks or Panera is in order. I promise you Rev., you would walk away from the meeting with a smile on your face.
Panera might be bigger than starbucks. Breckinridge Lane?

Time and day?
I say we meet up at spring st. Bar and grill.
We can be louder and ruder there. I held meetips there in the past, nice big round table in the back.
When I get back in town I'll set it up. Wednesday nights good?
