I have seen a few different websites on the internet where photographers offer mentoring sessions, some group and some individual, for new photographers.  Does anyone know of any such animal in this neck of the woods?  All of the ones I have found are up north.  I have added a link to a couple of examples.

His blog is great!
We should put something together here in town.
What would everyone like to cover etc...
I'll get back with you on this one [what to cover] Ryan, I'll have a list ....
Maybe we should just organize a simple "Tips & Tricks" type meetup?
I'm all about the simple camera tips - as in learning them.

gadgets! I'm sure that everyone loves to hear about new gadgets.

Simple light setups for beginners. remember the old shop lights and clip lights? Some interesting work came from almost no money spent.

Simple camera tips

I think that the topics should range from the most simple to the more advanced.
Sounds killer. Like Christy originally mentioned, something geared more towards the "newbs" in photography. Who knows, there may be some pointers & tips more advanced photographers might learn from such a meetup ....

Manual shooting and putting it all together (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) comes to mind ...
Newbies are afraid. If Ryan doesn't think they are real, Charles will come put pantyhose on them.
there is a piece of paper hanging up at murphy's w/ info about a workshop. i think the info is an 859 number.
This would be great. Just a general "how to" regarding a variety of things would really be nice, especially when it comes to work flow and post-processing. Also maybe a few lighting tips would be nice.

For anyone with a blog, Please cut and paste any helpful blog posts to your LPC blog. I can then flag those blog posts and create a resources area.
I would love this , I read and read and and attempt to apply but it would be nice to get together with others and maybe absorb some of it better?
I think I have checked out almost every book I can find in the Library and still don't understand some of it. I have had my camera for years now and have taken some pics but don't really know how I am doing it. I would love to be able to get with someoen who actually knows photography that would be willing to teach. I unfortunately am a hands on type learner and although I try to understand the books it doesn't do me much good to just read it.
