After talking to a few folks, I'm seeing a big need for a Lightroom Seminar. Anybody can go online and figure this stuff out if they really want to know about it, but let's face it: there's something about the human element that just makes the boring stuff a little more palatable, and maybe even entertaining. There's quite a few folks on LPC that is quite knowledgeable about Lightroom. It would be my hope that some of those folks would be willing to share a smidgeon of their knowledge rather than think in archaic terms such as "not gonna' give my secrets away to the competition". Photography is just as much about contacts as it is anything else, even more so than anybody's ability in Lightroom. You may get more tips than you give.
I'm thinking we could get a handful of peopie willing to speak for 15 minutes each, and then open up for questions before the next speaker takes over. If we break up the app into different sections of the app with each speaker taking a section. Just an idea.
I don't want to talk about Lightroom, but would it be possible for me to just talk about myself and my day for 15 minutes, give everyone a hug, then sell them my DVD for $69 and giggle when they buy it?
In my opinion, at least, the most important step in LR Raw processing is overlooked or unused by most people. It'll blow your mind! Stuff will leak from your ears! Your eyes will see David Hasselhoff!!! JPG shooters will go home and beat their families (or neighbor's family, if available) in frustration!!! The clouds will part and Jimi Hendrix will finally get some light in Hell!!! Dogs and cats will all sign up for eHarmony and fall in love for all the right reasons!!! Snapple flavors will really start to make sense!!! And, at the end, you will have a chance to win Ben Stein's money!!! Then we will have free cocktails in the lounge with an animal balloon artist and free nipple piercing in the common area. It'll be awesome!!! I forgot what I was thinking about though. Damn. I'll get back to you.
OK....so we're making progress in getting this seminar organized. The date will be Saturday, March 13th from 10AM to roughly 2pm or 3pm...with a lunch break. What I need to know at this point is if there is anybody else wanting or willing to do part of the presentation. It can be for an hour, or just 5 minutes. This will be a very casual arrangement in a comfortable and private atmosphere. If I have to carry the whole presentation then I will, but I think it would be more interesting to have different perspectives and speakers. Those that have responded to this thread thus far are automatically invited. The remaining 10 or so seats will be filled on a first come first serve basis....starting NOW!!
