I'm interested in setting up a studio area in my home for some product photography and I need your help. My experience with "lighting" includes natural light and/or use of my speedlight, so I'm at a bit of a loss about much else. (So please forgive my lack of knowledge about the terminology.) I have limited space, so I don't need much, but would like to purchase equipment that would make things a bit easier.

Is there a good place to start for buying lights, softboxes, backdrops, etc.? I have no idea what to look for in terms of equipment and not really any ideas of cost for what I would need. I don't need a large set-up. . . just something to get me started.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Alice,
Correct back lighting is the difference between shooting photos and being a photographer. If George Bush could have back lit, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.

AMEN to both.
