There will only be 4,000 other photographers there. The larger the glass you bring, the cooler you'll be.
When you say you are covering the KY Derby for the National Guard (or is it the Nat'l Guard from France?), what do you mean? Are you just covering the event in general? Or is there some kind of National Guard function there and you are covering that and the Derby? Because being sent there to cover the event for the National Guard seems odd to me. Mostly because i want to know if it involves my tax dollars at work. I don't pay my taxes, but I hear that they are supposed to be really high.
From what I know all-access pass might still be limited. You need to make sure of that. Because if you want to be trackside you need to have a special pass and wear a vest.
I could use some advice in this area as well. I've been contacted by Churchill's marketing department to cover the Chief Party Officer. Basically I'll be following him around at Dawn at the Downs, Oaks, Derby Ever parties, and Derby Day itself. I haven't taken on an assignment this big before so I'm really not sure what to charge. Any advice would be quite welcomed. (fotoewizzard@gmail.com)
