I wanted to know everyone's tips or opinions? I am going to be upgrading camera's here in the next month or so, my dream is to do photography for a living! My 9-5 is really starting to drain me =-( I currently have a canon rebel (with a kit lens and one zoom lens), I tend to favor canon. I am wondering if anyone will offer up tips as to which direction i should go. my max would be the Canon 5D to give an idea of the budget, but then i am going to have to wait to get lenses i want if i get the 5D (which i am willing to do). I love taking portraits, and pets (but i love nature as well) to give you an idea of what i like to shoot.
In that case, you don't need to spend a lot of money on fast and heavy glass. If I were you, I would get the Tamron 18-270 because you can use it for everything you do now and then save up your money for studio gear.
I don't own a 70-200 2.8 because I wouldn't use it every week. But I do rent it from Murphy's when I need it. I'd love to own one, but I need to money for studio rental every month. And I'd rather buy four studio lights and accessories than one lens. If I shot more sports or weddings, I'd invest in the glass. But renting is smart for occasional use.
