Permalink Reply by Susie Lundmark on April 5, 2010 at 4:11pm Hi Susie,
I am no pro, but was wondering why you want to start off with a Full Frame 5D? , reason I ask is cause you stated you still need to build your lens arsenal. If you have 5D money now, I would put that towards some nice glass and worry about the body later...just my 2 cents :)

Permalink Reply by Susie Lundmark on April 5, 2010 at 5:56pm ALL Canon lenses fit the rebel. ALL of them. I have a rebel XSI and have tried multiple lenses but if the camera is in the rebel series, all of the Canon lenses will fit.
So save your money...get a 40D used and better glass. At least 85mm f1.8 and the 50mm 1.8
Permalink Reply by Susie Lundmark on April 5, 2010 at 6:08pm well, I personally use a 40D and love it! , you might be able to find some "like new" ones out there still if you look around....and take the savings and apply it towards one or 2 good lenses.
As far as I know you will not have any issues using EF or EF-S lenses on any your current camera or a 50D...it's the the 5D that only works properly with EF lenses.
Permalink Reply by Susie Lundmark on April 5, 2010 at 6:13pm Well it's best to have the best glass first and move up to full frame, I don't know much about canon but when you say the full frame lenses wont work on a cropped sensor do you mean they wont autofocus? I have a few full frame lenses and I use a cropped sensor just fine.
