This coming Thursday I'll be attending a concert at Horseshoe Casino (Indoors). Means they don't allow cameras with detachable lenses, I'll be going with my "point and shoot" Kodak Easy Share ZD8612 IS. Not much; I know, but it's all I have for this type of venue for now.

The features of the camera are as follows: f range 2.8 - 8.0 ; Shutter Speed is 16 sec (no tripod will be used) to 1/1000; Exposure Comp is -2.0 to +2.0; and ISO range is 64 to 1600. The lens is 36mm-432mm and I'll be shooting from the 7th Row.

I'd greatly appreciate any setting combinations to get the best pics possible with this camera while freezing the action - obviously.

Don, I don't think you will have good results from this camera.
Just go and enjoy the show!

That bad, huh? ... I'll just tool around with it and see what I come out with. I'm not looking for perfection ....

Ryan, what would you recommend (gear-wise) for concert photography? ...

Thanks for your input : )

If you go to a lot of events like this have you considered one of the new 3/4 cameras they are the size and look of a point and shoot but they have detachable lenses. I haven't got to play with one but I'd say it's a good investment if you find yourself in that type of event a lot.
