Just wondering if anybody has ever attempted to make their own back drops, and if so, what were the results? I'm thinking about giving it a go but not sure where to get materials or even what kind of materials I need?

There are many different kinds of backdrops. We don't do any fancy pants canvas painting or anything, but we do use lots of different fabrics from the fabric store. We even have some fabric that is similar to your panty hose.
Haha! How much would you charge me to frolic around in your fabric collection Shane? You can watch, or not.

Thanks Missy. I may call Doug. I remember seeing a tutorial a few years ago on making them but I was just wondering what the current trends are, besides white pantyhose? :)

The one I use all the time for my goofy thumbnail pics was made by me and painted by Jenn.
lynn made a pretty cool one.
So what kind of material does one use when making one ? ....
Wonder is she want's to do more. She could probably sell those things by the truckload. Oh Jeeeenn?
I am always happy to paint more.....

Thank you Ryan and Missy for thinking about me =)
Yes Jenn, your backdrops look great. I will definitely be a customer in the near future.

Jason: Lynn who? Heick?
Salabachi can stand on behind girl in picture and uses belly for backdrop... hairs catch light beautiful.
Depends on the type you want....canvas, muslin, paper? Also whether you want portable or studio?

Yes. I have been making backgrounds since the early 90's. I can't afford a $1000 dollar background.
Not saying that $1000 backgrounds are not worth it because they are. If I had the money I would buy them. You can make a lot of money off a really great background. It's worth every penny. So if you absolutely can't afford to buy one I can tell you how to make your own. I might have a few at the studio you could take off my hands.
