Any newer photographers looking for some practice? (kid's birthday party)

There's some folks that have known my parents since before I was born....which is a long time! This couple will be celebrating the 5th birthday of their twin great-grandsons. I've shot their previous two birthday parties, always at Chuck E. Cheese's, and always for free since they don't have a lot of money.

The boys mother wasn't thinking and sprung the date on me in the last second, after the LR seminar event was already set. I feel bad for not being able to shoot for them, even though it's not my fault, so I'm looking for somebody that's wanting to get in some no-stress practice, in a somewhat challenging environment. You'll definitely need a decent flash unit. It would be free of course but you can have some free pizza, and bring your kid or grandkid along. It's this coming Saturday at the Chucks' in Clarksville, IN. 11am to ?

I realize this whole pitch for a free photographer might appear a bit silly, but I told the mother of the twins I would try to find a replacement....and besides that, do you think a guy that runs around with pantyhose on his head is really that easily embarrassed?  :)

Let's make this a shoot-out with at least 20 photographers all running around at Chuck E Cheese's. Rules are you cannot have another photographer in your pictures, and no kids shall be harmed in this melee. Best picture wins a T-shirt...

Great Erica, I'll confirm the details and send you a message tomorrow. Thanks a bunch.

Very funny Nina. :)

I had an appt this Saturday that cancelled and can do it. I don't mind spending a couple of hours with kids running around. I was a daycare teacher for 7 years.....

send me details....
I soo need to find a job that doesn't require me working Saturdays. I'm missing out on too many opportunities : ( ...
Temp agencies can be your friend. I have a friend in New Albany that manages one. I drive 50 miles a day to and from work, am on-call for a whole week, every third week. The benefits are either outrageously expensive to the point of being unaffordable and impractical. Plus, I miss out on all kinds of opportunities from being on-call.

A company called and wanted me to start with them Monday. I told them I can't do that, that I have to give my current employer proper notice. "oh, you're employed now?". I guess most people that utilize temp agencies are typically unemployed. Long story short, the new company is about 2 miles from my home, requires no on-call or weekend work and has awesome benefits. (after 90 days). It's hard to start-up a photography business when you're chained to a company phone, working evenings and weekends.

Don, what do you do for work?
He said free pizza. He didn't say anything about free cake. What a rip.
The gig does have It's limitations. :o

This reminds me I need to read up on the flash I bought from you Charles. I haven't even used it yet ...

That flash has some historical significance to it. It was used on the night of the infamous "pantyhose" shots. :)
I never thought of that! It's value may have went way up - or waaay down!
