Do you have a digital camera that you would like to donate for an ArtsReach project? Do you want to invest in a newer model and would like to pass on the camera you already have? Is your digital camera just sitting in a drawer and you would feel much better if it was in the hands of an emerging youth photographer?
We are looking for 10-15 used digital cameras for photography workshops for youth from the California neighborhood. Photographer Abdul Sharif will work on an on-going basis with middle and high school students to create photographic works about the neighborhood. The group will research historic images from the photographic archives; document historic buildings and abandoned buildings; life in the neighborhood, as well as changes currently underway to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. This project is a partnership between the young people of California neighborhood, ArtsReach, the California Collaborative, artist Abdul Sharif, the Community Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation and UPS.
The less we spend on photo equipment, the more INSTRUCTION and HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS the youth will receive.
If you have a camera (or a tripod) you would like to donate, please let me know!
Many thanks,
