The Louisville Photographic Society (LPS) announces part one of our two part Summer Seminars.
“Back in the day” off camera lighting meant expensive mono-blocs powered by heavy battery packs all tethered together by a maze of pc terminal and power cords. Advances in batteries, power management and smart technologies mean that creative dynamic lighting can be carried in a small backpack and purchased for as little or as much as you want to spend on your equipment.
The July summer seminar will focus on off camera flash concentrating on the “strobist” philosophy that less can be more and light gear facilitates mobility, by using small strobes and ingenuity to attain creative lighting. The seminar will discuss using constants, Nikons native Infra-red off camera flash system (CLS), as well as expensive radio controlled triggering systems (Pocket Wizards), TTL over radio (Radio Poppers) and inexpensive radio controlled systems (known affectionately as (poverty wizards).
This seminar isn’t meant make you an immediate genius in off camera flash but rather familiarize you with the tools and technical aspects of off camera flash so that you won’t be intimidated by taking your camera off of your camera and achieving better light.
